Often a new client will come to us with an existing website. They may have made it themselves, or a family friend created it for them, or even had it professionally made some years ago. But for one reason or another, they want a new website. The existing website’s design may be outdated, or the content is because they can’t easily edit it, or it is just time to move from an outdated platform, or they just want a new look.
HTML Migrations
Many people have their first websites designed and built using software such as Dreamweaver. This produces a series of HTML files that are then uploaded to your web server. Editing a page is a complicated process because you have to get a copy of the file, edit the HTML and then upload the new file to your web hosting.
It is because this is a complicated process that Content Management Systems were created. They provide an editor dashboard so you can edit the content within your browser.
We can take your content in these HTML files and add it to your new WordPress website.
CMS Migration
There are many different Content Management Systems (CMS) available such as Joomla, Wix, Squarespace and Drupal plus custom ones developed by web agencies only for their use. WordPress is now one of the most popular CMS available, and for good reason as it provides an easy to use editor and is flexible to create many different types of websites.
We can migrate content from these other content management systems to your new WordPress website.
WordPress.com Migration
WordPress.com is a web hosting platform where you can create a WordPress website for free. Many people start their websites on this platform for this reason. It has some limitations and clients come to us because they want to move their Website from WordPress.com to self-hosted WordPress (ie use the WordPress software on your own webserver).
We have migrated many websites from WordPress.com to self-hosted WordPress. In fact, Jo gave a talk in 2012 to the Food Blogger Connect conference on just that.
New Theme / New Block Editor
Do you have an existing self-hosted WordPress website and are just looking for a new, updated, look? We can take a copy of your existing website, install a new theme, and redesign your website.
If you have an old theme you will be missing out on improvements such as the new block editor, and security and SEO improvements.
